Casa Spa d’Alma

Hiking at the best places

Casa Spa d’Alma

Hiking is natural medicine.

Walking in the hills gives you unforgettable pleasure, in the end you may be tired but you also feel strength and vitality. Going uphill you breathe in the pure Monchique air smelling of herbs and eucalyptus, going down you sometimes need to use your whole body to keep the balance. Hiking is living in the moment. The   best   season   for   hiking   is   from   march   until   2nd   week   of   June   and   from   the   2nd   part of   spetember   until   december.   The   summer   is   too   hot   and   the   winter   months   can   be wet. The   mountains   of   Monchique   offer   the   possibility   to   adjust   the   hike   from   normal   to strong,   the   differences   in   altitude   will   seldom   exceed   500   m   and   the   walking   time   can often   be   changed   during   the   hike   by   taking   a   different   path.   This   way   you   can   walk from   2   to   6   hours   a   day.   We   also   have   walks   on   the   south   and   west   coast   that   provide   an unforgettable experience. There   are   many   circular   walks   but   also   the   walk   from   Foia   (highest   point   of   the Algarve) to   Casa   Spa   d'Alma   is   very   attractive   and   we   can   drop   you   off   at   the   starting   point.   You can also follow a route from Via Algarviana where we can help with transport. We   provide   you   with   maps,   tips   and   directions   for   the   routes.   During   breakfast   you prepare   a   packed   lunch   for   the   walk,   we   provide   something   extra   such   as   egg   or   tuna salad, fruit. Make sure you bring a backpack for water, etc. The   routes   mainly   concern   goat   paths,   gravel   or   sand,   sometimes   with   a   part   that   is asphalted   but   where   you   are   rarely   bothered   by   traffic.   You   can   walk   through   the   area where   you   meet   the   locals   but   there   are   also   tracks   through   deserted   wilderness   where you are alone with the high floating eagles, the cork oaks and the noise in the trees. If you want to walk individually, supervised, it is also possible and one of us goes along as a guide. Here you pay a little extra
